Whether you are a student, teacher, or observer, do not shun the terminology of mathematics – embrace it. After centuries of evolving, the terminology serves quite well to accurately communicate the ideas of mathematics. As you study the 11 OCT 18 post, embrace the terminology.

On 11 OCT 18, I presented The Number Line, The Distributive Law, The Transitive Law (of equality), The Law of Trichotomy, and The Euclidean Algorithm as they are embedded with numerous other properties of The Real Numbers.

These properties are very important in the application of deductive reasoning in mathematics. Traditional instruction (as currently practiced) has ignored these very important properties. The result has been a distortion of mathematics.

For example, neglect of The Transitive Property has produced dozens of methods for solving “word problem.” In fact, all that is needed to solve and of these “word” problems is The Transitive Property and deductive reasoning.
